OpenMP profilers

Postby s.gautam » Mon May 05, 2008 12:41 pm

Hi,
I am looking for some reliable OpenMP code profilers. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or the normal code profilers do just fine?

There are a lot of possible answers to your question depending on the OS you are running on and whether you are looking for something free or you can spend some money. Most vendors have profilers that support their implementation of OpenMP and may support other implementations (such as gcc) to some degree. There are also more general profilers that support multiple implementations. There is a white paper out on the OpenMP web site that discusses an interface that a vendor can implement so that it is open to other vendor's tools for profiling. Please give more information about what your requirements are and that will help.

I am looking for a general profiler supporting multiple implementations, preferably free. I am using Linux. (Ubuntu 8.04). If not a general profiler, I'd want support for at least gcc and intel compilers.
