Is there a multicore simulator

Postby mrxinwu » Mon Feb 04, 2008 11:39 pm

Hi, everyone! I'm a novice and getting started to learn OpenMP. However, I only have an old laptop of an Intel Pentium M processor. Are there any multicore or multiple CPU simulators to aid me to learn and test OpenMP parallelized small programs?
BTW: The host OS is GNU/Debian Linux.

Thanks!

You shouldn't need a simulator to try OpenMP out. You can use the directives, compile your code, and specify the number of threads to use with your machine. While you will not see a speedup and there may be some types of code that you can't run, it should all work and allow you to try the directives. Have fun!
