memory model and "volatile"

I accidentally misdirected two comments entitled

"Memory model" http://www.openmp.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25

to the general list. Bronek already replied to one. I still believe that there is likely to be a serious incompatibility here with an underlying C or C++ implementation, as well as with the Java conventions that many new programmers are likely to be most familiar with. Thus I wanted to make sure that the comments would be visible here as well.
