The Twelfth Euromicro Conference covers all the fields of
high-performance computing, from the end-user applications
to new scientific results in architectures, models and
languages. The conference provides a forum for the
presentation of all the issues related to parallel,
distributed and network computing. The major themes fall
into the next topics:

    * Languages, Compilers and Runtime Support Systems:
task and data parallel languages, functional and logic
languages, object-oriented languages, dependability issues,
scheduling and load balancing, task and object migration.

    * Models and Tools for Parallel Programming
Environments: performance prediction and analysis,
simulation, knowledge-based parallel program development,
visualisation tools.

    * Network-based and Internet-based Computing: web
computing, cluster computing, computational grids, data
grids, metacomputing, hypercomputing.

    * Parallel Computer Graphics: rendering/modelling/
simulation, graphics and visualisation in high-performance
applications, parallel and distributed systems for photo-
realistic rendering, task scheduling and data distribution
for graphics applications, shared and distributed memory
graphics systems, rendering realistically large models,
parallel volume rendering.

    * Parallel Computer Systems: massively parallel
machines, interconnection networks, embedded parallel and
distributed systems, fault-tolerance, memory organisation,
support for parallel I/O.

Besides, the conference program includes this year a
special session on Internet-based infrastructures.

In addition, the conference program features three invited
talks from reputed researchers in the field of high
performance computing:

    * Optimisation techniques for irregular and
pointer-based programs. Emilio Zapata, Head of Computer
Architecture Department, University of Málaga, Spain

    * Supercomputing Technology Trends. Djordje Maric,
Head HPCN Service Division, Chief Technology Officer for
national High Performance Computing and Networking, CSCS
(Swiss Center for Scientific Computing), Switzerlan

    * The impact of Morphware on Parallel Processing,
Reiner Hartenstein, IEEE fellow, Technische Universitat
Kaiserslautern, Germany

LOCAL INFORMATION

The venue of the Workshop is A Coruña which lies at the
extreme Northwest of Spain and forms part of the autonomous
community of Galicia. A Coruña, known as a balcony onto the
Atlantic, is a seaside city where you can enjoy many
pleasant places from the Tower of Hercules, the two
thousand year old lighthouse, to the charm of its squares
and Romanesque and Baroque churches of the Old City. Near
the city, the Rias Altas, the Costa da Morte (Death Coast),
and a little bit further away, Santiago de Compostela, make
the city of A Coruña an ideal base for hiking in a beautiful
natural area.
